NHL, AHL ECHL and SPHL Signings from Former Tier 3 Players
With a goal to develop and advance players into the college ranks, many former Tier 3 Junior Hockey players continue to advance during and after their college campaigns.
This off season many former Tier 3 Junior Hockey players signed professional contracts with the NHL, AHL, ECHL, SPHL and International teams.
Sam Anas (F)
Sam Anas played 19 games for the Washington Little Caps of the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League during the 2010-11 season, followed by two seasons in the USHL with the Youngstown Phantoms. Currently in his Junior year at Quinnipiac, Anas signed a pro NHL contract with the Minnesota Wild.
Jake Bolton (D)
Jake Bolton played his 2011-12 campaign with the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs, followed by four seasons at Holy Cross. Bolton signed a pro contract with the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL.
Derek Henderson (D)
Henderson played two seasons with the South Shore Kings from 2010-12 while the Kings were part of the EJHL. He went on to play four seasons with American International and signed a pro contract with the Macon Mayhem of the SPHL.
Jesper Lonnberg (F)
Swedish native Jesper Lonnberg played two seasons at the Tier 3 level. He played his 2014-15 campaign with the Philadelphia Jr Flyers of the EHL and his 2015-16 season with the Chicago Cougars of the USPHL. Lonnberg signed a pro contract for the 2016-17 season with Helsingsborgs HC. Helsingsborgs plays in a Division 1 league in Sweden and the 3rd highest professional league in the country.
Tom Parisi (D)
Parisi played two seasons with the New York Bobcats while the Bobcats were part of the AtJHL from 2010-12, followed by a third season at the Tier 3 level with the New Hampshire Jr Monarchs while the Monarchs were part of the Eastern Junior Hockey League. After four years at Providence College, Parisi signed with the St Johns Ice Caps of the AHL.
Harry Quast (D)
Harry Quast played two seasons at the Tier 3 Level from 2010-12 with the Bay State Breakers while the Breakers were part of the EJHL. Quast completed four seasons at the University of New Hampshire before signing his first pro contract with the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL.
Steve Santini (D)
Steve Santini played his 2009-10 campaign with the Brewster Bulldogs while the Bulldogs were part of the EmJHL. Followed by a second year at the Tier 3 level with the New York Applecore from 2010-11 while the Applecore were part of the EJHL. Santini played two seasons on the USA National Development Team before advancing to Boston College. Santini played through his Junior year before signing a pro contract with the New Jersey Devils of the NHL. Santini made his pro debut on April 9, 2016 when the Devils hosted Toronto. Through 14:35 minutes of ice time, Santini earned two penalty minutes and a +2 rating.
Nicholas Saracino (F)
Nicholas Saracino played two seasons at the Tier 3 level from 2008-2010 with the St Louis Jr Blues while the Blues were part of the Central States Hockey League. Saracino advanced from there to play two seasons at the Tier 1 Junior Hockey level for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders of the USHL before going on to complete four seasons at Providence College. Saracino signed an ATO with the Minnesota Wild on Mar. 30, 2016, playing 7 games in the 2015-16 season with the Iowa Wild logging 1 goal and 1 assist in that span.
Adrian Sjoqvist (F)
Adrian Sjoqvist played his 2015-16 campaign at the Tier 3 level with the New Hampshire Jr Monarchs of the EHL, logging 60 points in 41 regular season games. A native of Sweden, Sjoqvist signed a professional contract with Sollentuna HC for the 2016-17 season. Sollentuna plays in a Division 1 League in Sweden.
Kyle Smith (F)
Kyle Smith played three seasons at the Tier 3 level with the Boston Jr Bruins from 2009-12 while the Bruins were part of the EJHL. Smith advanced to play four seasons at the University of New Hampshire before signing a pro contract with the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL. Smith played 3 games with the Monarchs during the 2015-16 season, logging his first goal as a professional hockey player.
Alex Tuch (F)
Alex Tuch played 40 games at the Tier 3 level with the Syracuse Stars during his 2011-12 campaign while the Stars were part of the EmJHL. Tuch advanced from there to play two seasons on the US National Development Team and was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the first round (18th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Tuch played two season on the Boston College roster where he logged 62 points. On April 13, 2016 the Wild signed Tuch to a three-year, entry-level contract starting with the 2016-17 season.
Matt Vidal (F)
Matt Vidal began his Tier 3 campaign with the Suffolk PAL Islanders in 2007 while the Islanders were part of the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League. After two seasons on the Islanders roster, Vidal moved to the Bay State Breakers where he played from 2009-12 as part of the Eastern Junior Hockey League. Vidal advanced to play four seasons at the NCAA Division 1 level with Holy Cross. Vidal then signed with the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL, where he played 7 games of the 2015-16 season.
