Uncommitted 1996 | A Look at Yellowstone Quake Defenseman Cosimo Yapello
The Uncommitted 1996 series continues, focusing on players aging out of Junior Hockey who have yet to commit to a University or advanced to a higher level of hockey for the 2017-18 season.
Cosimo Yapello first joined the Yellowstone Quake during his 2013-14 campaign, followed by a season in Canada during the 2014-15 season and returned to Cody Wyoming to play his final two seasons of Junior Hockey with the Quake.
A Minnesota native, Yapello defended the blue line for a 2015-16 Quake squad that had the biggest turnaround season of any Tier 3 Junior Hockey team while clinching their first playoff berth since the 2012-13 season.
The Quake returned in 2016-17 to make the playoffs for a second year in a row, securing the Frontier Division title in the process. Yapello registered 4 goals and 26 assists for 30 points through 41 regular season games as well as an additional 3 points through 9 games as the team competed for the Silver Cup.
Yapello and the Quake defense ranked in the top 25 among all 162 Tier 3 Junior Hockey teams to compete in 2016-17 in goals allowed, allowing 100 goals through 47 regular season games.
