Chicago Cougars Re Sign Luke Martinovich
On the cusp of the organization's 3rd tryout camp the Chicago Cougars have announced Goaltender Luke Martinovich will return for the 2017-18 campaign. The 19 year old will be entering his last season of Junior hockey next year and is a key piece returning between the pipes for the Cougars.
Last year, Martinovich played in 23 Regular Season Games splitting starts with Alex Jones to earn a 2.30 GAA and .927 SAVE% establishing himself in the upper echelon of the league's Goaltenders and styming opposing teams and a big part of the Cougars success defensively last season.
Martinovich collected 3 postseason starts for a 1.72 GAA and .886 SAVE% in route to the division semi-finals with the Cougars.
"Luke is a key piece of what we are trying to do here in Chicago, a guy that goes about his business every day, works hard, and is looking to earn a college opportunity. We are very fortunate to have him coming back and know we will have solid goaltender play this season." said Head Coach Brad Stoffers.
The Cougars open camp tomorrow, Friday, June 30th at 7 PM at Leafs Ice Centre and will finish Saturday night at 6 PM. All sessions are open to the public and free of charge. Come out and see Luke and future Cougars players this weekend. Go Cougars!
