Jr Flyers Forward | Back to Back Goals to Force a Game 5
The Eastern Hockey League's 2016-17 season comes down to a Philly face off between the Little Flyers and Jr Flyers. After four games, the series is tied 2-2 due to a couple pivotal goals from Jr Flyers Forward Barry Kneedler.
Game four was nearly in the books. The Little Flyers entered leading the series 2-1 and were 42 seconds away from a Championship victory when Kneedler found the net at 19:18 in the 3rd to tie things up. The goal came at even strength off a feed from Luke Benitez and Matthew Manning, leading to not only one, but two overtime periods. At 15:46 in double OT, Kneedler would put the puck in the back of the net again, earning the victory for the Jr Flyers and propelling the series into a Game 5.
Kneedler, a 1996, joined the Junior Flyers in mid-November 2016 and went on to play 34 regular season games, logging 9 goals and 16 assists for 25 points. The 6'3 215lb Pennsylvania native scored his first goal for the Jr Flyers in his second game with the team. Contributing to 3 of the teams 5 goals that night and would go on to earn points in a total of 19 contests, including 4 multi point efforts and one game winner.
Finishing the season strong, Kneedler hit his stride during the playoffs, registering 7 goals and 6 assists for 13 points and contributing to 37% of the Jr Flyers Playoff goals. Kneedler began the playoffs on a 7 game point streak and has since earned a point in 9 of 11 contests.
