The Hockey Humanitarian Foundation released the 15 nominees for the 2017 Hockey Humanitarian Award. Of the 15 players, three developed in Tier 3.
"The Humanitarian Award is meant to be seen as a true measure of a person’s worth, not just as an athlete, but as someone who embodies those values that merit our recognition."
Often considered “one of college hockey’s two most important awards.” The Humanitarian Award was first presented in 1996 and went national in 2000.
The 3 former Tier 3 Junior Hockey players earning a 2017 nomination are Dan Divis, Senior at St Michaels (Springfield Pics 2011-12, Philadelphia Revolution 2011-13), Justin McKenzie Senior at St Michaels (Jersey Hitmen 2012-13) and Andrew Doane Senior at Brown University (South Shore Kings 2011-13).
In 2016, five former Tier 3 Junior Hockey players earned Nominations.
