The Tier 3 Junior Hockey Week 3 Top Performers takes a look at the top statistical players from each position. In week 3, honors go to Forward Austin Wisely, Defenseman Vaden McManus and Goaltender Christopher Alexakis.
Austin Wisely, F, 1996 , Peoria Mustangs
Forward Austin Wisely gets out to a good start in his final season of Junior Hockey. The 5'11 190lb Illinois native currently ranks 3rd in points across all Tier 3, earning 4 goals and 5 assists for 9 points through 2 weekend games. The Peoria Mustangs are 3-0-1 on the season and currently lead all teams in goals scored with 37. With 13 points on the season, Wisely has played a part in 35% of the Mustangs season goals. The Whalers earned a combined 24 goals on the weekend, of which McManus played a part in 29% of them. The 5'10 170lb North Carolina Native is in his fourth season at the Tier 3 level after 2 seasons with the East Coast Eagles and a season with the Portland Jr Pirates.
Christopher Alexakis, G, 1999, Eugene Generals
Statistically one of the top goaltenders from the 2015-16 season (with Bellingham Blazers), Christopher Alexakis returns to the Eugene Generals roster for 2016-17. The 5'11 165lb Alaska native turned away all 50 shots faced through 91 minutes across two games this weekend, earning the win and shutout on September 16th. Alexakis finished the 2015-16 season Top 5 in shutouts (6), Top 4 in GAA (1.33), and Top 4 in SV% (.948).
