After a solid opening weekend, injuries began piling up for the Blaine Energy. If all goes as planned the team will play with their original starting line up this weekend for the first time since the opening weekend.
Returning is key defenseman Zach Berglund. The 5'10 205lb Minnesota native has been out with a jaw injury since mid October.
Forward Parker Caskey returned last weekend after missing games due to a shoulder injury, logging a point in his first game back. Caskey earned a point in 12 of his 16 games played this season, including 2 multi point efforts. A 1997, Caskey is a Tier 3 veteran, having played his 2014-15 campaign with the former Hudson Crusaders.
Go to goaltender Blair Sanders (1995) leads all Tier 3 goalies with 1146 saves on the season. Sanders faces, on average, over a shot per minute including 5 games with over 70 shots and a season high 95 shots on October 17th. In fact Sanders has faced 30 or less shots in only two games this season, yet retains a .890 save percentage.
Forward Jacob Kantor is producing offensively for the Energy. A New York native, Kantor leads the team in points and is currently on a 6 game point streak with 2 multi point efforts in that span.
Energy veteran Nate Kuta combines with Kantor to produce over 30% of the teams season goals. Kuta logged points in 9 games this season including 3 multi point efforts.
More players to watch:
Tier 3 veteran Jake Steiner (1995) who previously played a season in both the MnJHL and the WSHL.
Rookie forwards Aaron Hocum and Erik Engdahl. Hocum, an Alaskan native, logged points in 3 of his last 4 games and Engdahl earned points in 7 games this season.
