Express Set EHL Record with 21 NCAA Commitments Made in 2015-16 Season
WALPOLE, MA -- After three seasons, the Walpole Express own a commitment total of 48, which ranks at the top of the Eastern Hockey League. This past season was a big reason why, as the organization racked up 21 total commitments, 17 from their Premier team and 4 from their Elite team. On top of all that, the Express Premier team put together an impressive run in the playoffs, that was cut just short in the semi-finals.
Connor Rodericks was the key factor for the Premier team all season long, as the Massachusetts native won Star of the Week honors twice (February 3rd through 7th and October 16th through 18th), and then stood on his head in the playoffs. Rodericks combined numbers from the first two rounds of the playoffs were remarkable as he collected a perfect 4-0 record to go along with a 0.92 goals against average. Rodericks did all he could in the semi-finals against the Philadelphia Little Flyers (59 saves on 64 shots in 2 games), but that's where the run ended for the Express.
On the Elite side, the Express saw Ryan Wagner become the first ever Elite Division commitment, followed up by three more commits throughout the season. The team was paced by First-Team All-Star Eric Wright who finished the season 5th in the league in scoring with 67 points, and 2nd in goals scored with 44. Wright was tied with Mike McPherson (Boston Jr. Rangers) for game-winning-goals with 8, and collected 6 points of his own during the Elite Round Robin. Wright will be back next season with the Premier team.
The EHL would like to congratulate all of the Express players that made their NCAA Commitments this past season.
