Tier 3 Junior Hockey Commitments and Advancements Near the 50% Mark
Over 850 Tier 3 Players Aged out of Junior Hockey at the Completion of the 2015-16 Season
The Tier 3 Junior Hockey college commitment numbers for players aging out this season is nearing the 50% mark. Recent numbers show 397 college commitments/advancements to both U.S and International Universities, as well as Professional signings to International Teams.
Players who committed to college for the 2017-18 season or later were not included, however 20 players signing NAHL tenders were included as an advancement even though they didn't age out.
Here is a breakdown of where Tier 3 players are going. Keep in mind not every league publicizes ACHA commitments so those numbers may be slightly off as a result, but shows a solid baseline with NCAA D3 commitments making up over 50% of the currently committed players.
NCAA D1 - 61 (15%)
NCAA D2 - 40 (10%)
NCAA D3 - 224 (56%)
ACHA D1 - 34 (8%)
All other commitments and advancements -38 (10%)
