Cougars Advance 11 Players from Inaugural Season
Chicago Cougars Prepare for Season 2
The goal of hockey at the Tier 3 level is to develop and advance players. A fact that is not lost on Chicago Cougars Head Coach Brad Stoffers.
"Chicago is such a hockey rich and prideful community and the Chicago Cougars were established to provide players nationwide and abroad an opportunity to play our sport in this amazing city while developing their game and given a legitimate opportunity to advance to a higher level of play."
Stoffers came to the Cougars with Assistant Coaching experience at both the Tier 2 and NCAA D1 levels, putting together a team that was a contender right out of the gate. The squad went 39-8-1, finishing the 2015-16 regular season second in the USPHL Midwest division, 1 point behind the Forest Lake Lakers, while advancing top players midseason to the NAHL.
"Our 2015-2016 inaugural season was extremely successful," says Stoffers. "We definitely established ourselves among our community and nationwide as a team that does things the right way and stays true to our mission of player development and advancement. We will work to build on that this coming season and replicate our success with an opportunity to become a perennial contender and model organization in Junior hockey."
As the team builds for the 2016-17 season, 11 players from the 2015-16 season earned roster spots at higher levels of hockey.
