Tier 3 Junior Hockey Alumni Watch | College of Holy Cross
33% of the Holy Cross 2016-17 Roster Developed in Tier 3
For the second season in a row nine players who developed at the Tier 3 Junior Hockey level will play on the College of Holy Cross 27 man roster in 2016-17. The Crusaders are coming off a 3rd place finish in the Atlantic Hockey Conference after going 16-7-5 (.661) through the 2015-16 season.
Four incoming Freshmen are direct from Tier 3 to Division 1 advancements. Of the four only Goaltender Anthony Tirabassi made his commitment while playing at the Tier 3 level. The 5'10 175lb New York native played two seasons with the Islanders HC earning a 19-4-0 regular season record and a 3-1-0 post season record, including a shutout in both. The remaining 3 Freshmen (Patrick O'Leary, Will Brophy, Owen Powers) committed while playing on High School/U18 squads and chose Tier 3 teams to continue their development prior to playing college hockey. Continuing with the Crusaders this season will be Senior Forward Mike Barrett. Barrett, who played a season with the Jersey Hitmen in 2012-13, ranked second in points for the team in 2015-16, earning 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points. Also returning: Ryan Ferrill (NH Jr Monarchs 2011-13 & Philadelphia Flyers HC 2013-14), Tommy Muratore (Islanders HC 2012-14) and Michael Laffin (Brewster Bulldogs 2010-12, NY Applecore 2012-13 & Jersey Hitmen 2013-15)and Danny Lopez (Jersey Hitmen 2012-14).
Two former Tier 3 players graduated from Holy Cross following the 2015-16 season: Jake Bolton and Matt Vidal. Continuing his hockey development, Vidal will go overseas to play for Gap HC (France) in 2016-17.
Both Nick Finn (SR) and Erik Ouellett (JR) played on the Holy Cross 2015-16 squad but do not appear on this years roster.
